By John Ogulei
SOROTI CITY
The Former Forum for Democratic Change FDC party legislator for Soroti Municipality, Edmund Ariko has finally joined the National Ruling NRM Party.
Ariko was in the last 2021 election trounced by Moses Okia Attan of Forum for Democratic Change FDC party after he (Ariko) ended his relationship with the party in 2019.
Ariko won the 2016 elections after he defeated his tormentor Moses Attan Okia to succeed Capt Mike Mukula under Forum For Democratic Change.
However, Ariko in 2019 officially ended his wedding with FDC after he declared that his relationship with FDC had gone worse and he couldn’t continue being in a party where he was treated as a traitor.
Ariko’s joining NRM was today 28th May 2021confirmed by Capt. Mike Mukula, the Eastern Uganda NRM Vice Chairman through a tweet.
In a tweet Mukula said that, he was very greatful to receive Ariko to NRM.
“Am extremely happy to receive my Brother and comrade now Hon Herbert ARIKO outgoing MP Soroti municipality(city) formerly FDC and has now formally joined the mighty party NRM,” Mukula said in a tweet.
Ariko’s has on several occasions been accused of dinning with NRM and his Crossing officially confirms that he has been an NRM.
During the 2021 polls he was accused of working with top NRM leaders including the former LCV boss Michael Egunyu to frustrate opposition.
Efforts for a comment from Ariko has yeilded no fruits as his known numbers are unreachable.
