A pastor in Bukedea District has been arrested by Police for Violation of COVID-19 guidelines as the 42 days of the lockdown near completion.
The pastor has been identified as Khawuka Christopher who police alleges that had gathered over 80 believers at the home of Chebet Maimuna
Police at Aminit Police Station in Bukedea district also arrested the Area LCI defense officer Wanyanje Emmanuel and Chebet Maimuna the owner of the home.
The police spokesperson East Kyoga Ageca Oscar Gregg while speaking to this reporter said that the arrest of the trio was a tip off by concerned residents of Aminit that prayers were taking place and that a crowd of more than 80 people had gathered at the home of Chebet.
The pastor from Sironko district was called by the above individuals to conduct prayers which is contrary to Public Health (Control of Covid-19) Rules, 2021 No. 38 and acting in a negligent way likely to spread an infectious disease, Added ASP Ageca.
He added that the Trio shall continue to appear before the court until final disposition of the matter.
He has however, warned the public that Public gatherings are banned and that violatiotors shall face the wrath of law.
