The 50 peace monitors who were successfully trained for three months were flagged off on Friday last week.

While speaking during the fagging off ceremony, Mary Amuge, the executive director of Kolir women development non-governmental organization said the women were trained on how to counsel and guide married couples who have misunderstandings.

She also said that the peace monitors will be working together with community development officers, religious leaders, local leaders and cultural leaders.

She said this is going to reduce the number of family domestic violence which have been leading to breakage of families and decongest cases reported to police.

Sarah Mukhaye, one of the women who were flagged off, urged married couples to report their cases to them before going to police.
