The Vice President has called upon journalists in Teso Sub Region to help in circulating information about the recently launched parish development model (PDM).
Jessica Alupo Epel who is also Woman MP for Katakwi district made the call while launching the Teso Media Initiative for Development Association that unites all journalists in Akello hotel in Soroti City on Friday last week.
Alupo said the Parish Development Model is for the betterment of all people as it will see the country move into a middle income status.
She urged them to work together and base their work with facts as government will always be behind them.
“We value the work you do because it informs, educates, and sensitizes people. We are in an era where almost every home has a radio, so amplify the message factually such that the audience becomes inquisitive and interested,” Alupo added.
She also advised the journalists to use the Shs30m that was donated to them by the President to their SACCO as a revolving fund so that it will grow further and also see them develop for the greater cause.
Meanwhile, the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Soroti City, Peter Pex Paak commended the Vice President in particular and Government in general for supporting the media. He reminded them of the importance of mindset change, saying for example, money for SACCOs isn’t a donation, but a tool for development. “Use it and return it, so it can benefit the next person,” he cautioned.
