SOROTI CITY
A S.2 Student from Soroti SS who disappeared on Saturday, 29th October, 2022 has been discovered dead in Soroti Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary.
Gabriel Epuru was last seen in the evening hours of Saturday in Club Cloud 9 that hosted Kampala based B2C artists among others. His body was discovered this morning, 31st October 2022 after the hospital authorities alerted the searching relatives that there was an unidentified body of a young man in the mortuary.
The unfortunate events
According to a close relative this reporter spoke to on phone, the late together with a friend were attacked outside the Club and fatally beaten.
“The friend says, they were attacked immediately they came out of the Club and when they started beating them, he managed to run away leaving the deceased being beaten,” the relative said.
The relative further says that the deceased was later picked up opposite the Soroti government Prison gate still fighting for his life by soldiers who delivered him to Soroti Regional Referral hospital where he breathed his last.
He was staying at Orwadai Cell with a cousin.
In another phone interview, one renowned photographer, Luck Eddy who worked closely with the late said he disappeared on Saturday and they were only told to go and check on a lifeless body in the mortuary at Soroti regional referral hospital this morning where it turned out that he was the one.
By press time the relatives were arranging for his burial and police are yet to release a statement about the incident.
Meanwhile, the Resident City Commissioner Soroti Peter Pex Paak advised the relatives to report the matter to police for investigation.
“I am just hearing from you and I don’t know whether the parents or the relatives had reported it to the police, if they had not, then I advise them to do so. It’s so sad!” he said while expressing sympathy.
