Man Commits Suicide after Attempts to Renew Driving Permit from Mbale City Failed

A 39 year old man of Palatau Parish, Alwa Sub County in Kaberemaido district has committed suicide by hanging after allegedly failing to renew his driving permit at the regional offices in Mbale City.

 

Emmanuel Eduku was discovered hanging on a tree near his home on the morning of Thursday, 10th November, 2022 .

 

According to his wife, Sarah Acabo, her husband left for Mbale on Wednesday, 9th November to renew his driving permit and was subjected to pay Shs300,000 nonrefundable deposit. During the processes of verification however, his particulars didn’t reflect. He was later left in a state of anxiety.

 

She said that her husband later reported the issue to Police in Mbale and was allegedly asked to pay Shs100,000 to help Police in investigation which didn’t help.

 

After he returned home, he started making death utterances resulting from the loss of the Shs400,000s only to be discovered dead in the morning.

 

Eduku is said to have attempted to commit suicide through poisoning a few years back.

 

Police from Kaberamaido Central Police Station led by the DPC ASP Innocent Tumusime visited the scene and took the body to Kaberamaido hospital for postmortem.
