A fatal accident involving a Ministry of Internal Affairs vehicle and a motorcycle Bajaj Boxer has occurred along Soroti-Lira road.
The accident which occurred today, 15th December, 2022 at Adwila along the Lira-Soroti road has been confirmed by Faridah Nampiima, the Uganda Police Traffic Spokesperson in a tweet.
According to Nampiima, the fatal accident involved motor vehicle Reg No UG 0337G, a Ford Ranger belonging to Ministry of Internal Affairs and a motorcycle Bajaj Boxer reg no UEU 841C.
It is alleged that the driver, No 64670 PC OGINERE JOHN, and a police officer attached to Ministry of Internal Affairs while coming from Soroti upon reaching Adwila, knocked the rider, Bob Odongo, who lost control and knocked dead Police Constable Muhindo Micah. The rider, too, died on the way to Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
“The driver has been arrested and is in our custody to help in investigations,” Nampiima said before adding that, “Our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased officer and Odongo Bob.”
