ALEBTONG: Wife Murders Hubby over Fresh Cassava

A 40 years old woman has been arrested in Alebtong for alleged murder of her husband, 49 years old.

Jimmy Patrick Okema the North Kyoga police regional spokesperson confirmed this to journalists saying the territorial police in Alebtong District are investigating a suspected murder of Ayo James on Wednesday, 22nd February, 2023 by Ajok Middy aged 40 years old.

Ajok is a wife to the deceased and were both residents of Onango cell, Okwangole ward in Apala Sub-County Moroto County in Alebtong District.

Okema said it’s alleged that the deceased has been in a long standing domestic misunderstanding with the wife and this was evidenced in 2021 when Ajok broke the left leg of the deceased over a struggle for food.

“This matter was resolved by the clan members, however it was around 4pm yesterday when Ayo went to uproot cassava with intention to sell, the wife protested his move and attacked him with a knife while he was bending to uproot cassava stabbing him with a knife from the back,” he said.

The suspect attempted to run away but the community members arrested her and handed her over to police custody.
