Lyantonde Principal Vet Officer Arrested For Selling Foot, Mouth Vaccines to Farmers

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested and arraigned the Principal Veterinary Officer, Lyantonde District before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo, Kampala.


Dr. Bameka Ronald was charged yesterday Thursday, 9th March, 2023 on one count of Abuse of Office.


According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Vet Doctor allegedly sold foot and mouth vaccines to farmers in Lyantonde district.


“The accused in abuse of his authority irregularly handled the foot and mouth vaccines by selling them to farmers which contravenes with the established procedures for handling such vaccines,” reads the State House Anti-corruption Unit statement in part.


Lyantonde, being one of the cattle corridor districts, always gets Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreaks often leading to animal quarantines.
