Busia District Flags off 52 Youth to Attend Presidential Skills Hub in Kibuku

BUSIABusia district local government has sent 52 youth to the Bukedi Region industrial hub in Kibuku district were they are set to undergo a 6-month long training initiative in various technical courses.

The selected youth who are set to enroll in 6-courses namely; Welding/metal fabrication, Bakery, Hair dressing, Carpentry, Tailoring and brick laying were flagged off yesterday, 18th April, 2023.

 

The flagging off of the youth was led by the District Chairperson, Mr. Stephen Mugeni Wasike who told our reporter that a group comprising both boys and girls was vetted from all corners of the district. He said that 26 of them are from the Municipality while the other 26 are from other areas throughout Busia district.

 

In his communication to the group, Mr. Mugeni urged them to utilize this chance provided to by the presidential initiative to acquire life changing skills that will enable them to create their own jobs.

 

 

The chairperson also cautioned the youth to desist from the habit of indiscipline in order to succeed in their studies. He also reminded them that this is a one time opportunity they have to utilize instead of thinking about relationships during their 6 month training camp while in Kibuku district.

 

 

Mrs. Betty Ajambo, the female councilor representing Busitema & Sikuda Sub Counties at the district, urged the beneficiaries to put together their focus in order to acquire these life changing skills which will empower them to set their own jobs

 

On their part, the beneficiaries assured their leaders that they are determined to successfully complete the training because they are much aware that this is a timely opportunity that will enable them to improve on their livelihood in the near future.
