The Minister of Agriculture has appointed Dr. Yona Baguma as the new Director General of the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) .
Dr. Yona Baguma replaces Dr. Ambrose Agona who is retiring on Friday, 21st April, 2023.
In a tweet posted earlier today, 20th April, 2023, Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) thanked the Board for conducting a transparent recruitment process
Baguma has deputizing Agona in the capacity of Deputy Director-General Research Coordination.
“Glad to announce to the agricultural research community, & all stakeholders of @MAAIF_Uganda ,that in accordance with the NARO law, I have appointed Dr Yona Baguma as new DG @narouganda to replace Dr Ambrose Agona who retires on 21st April 2023.” The Minister’s tweet reads in part.
He also thanked Dr Ambrose Agona saying, “I also thank Dr. Ambrose Agona for his efforts in leading our agricultural research agenda. “
“NARO continues to develop highly resilient seed varieties that sustain our production. I thank the council of @narouganda for conducting a transparent recruitment process,” he says.
