Mike Mudoma, the newly confirmed Inzu Yamasaba cultural leader has been sworn in to start executing his work officially.
This follows three years conflicts at Masaba cultural institution as Mike Mudoma and John Amuramu Wagabyalile both claimed as truly elected Umukuka III which forced the government to refuse gazetting any of them.
Last month, Peace Mutunzo the State Minister for Culture of wrote a letter to Wamimbi Weyasa, the first Umukuka to convene a meeting involving Wagabyalila and Mudoma and chairpersons of 26 clans such that they can elect any of the two.
The Minister through the letter said that one who will be elected by the majority, will be presented to her office so that the government can gazette him as III Umukuka.
During the elections, Mudoma scored 15 votes and Wagabyalila got 10 as others did not turn up which led the government to gazette Mudoma last week.
Over the weekend, Mudoma was installed at Mbale district head offices by elders from Masaba cultural institution.
After the swearing in ceremony, Mudoma promised to work together with Wagabyalile and his faction so that they can bring unity in Masaba land.
Walimbwa Peke, the former Mbale district LCV chairperson also an elder at Masaba cultural institution praised the government for ending these conflicts which had lasted for about three years since the death of Bob Mushikori in 2021.
