BUDAKA: Motorcycle Robbers Kill Boda Boda Rider, Critically Injure Passenger

Suspected motorcycle robbers have killed a boda boda rider and critically injured a passenger before taking off with his motorcycle.

 

The incident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday night, 20th August 2023 at Kakoli Jami bridge along Tirinyi road most probably towards 5:00AM.

 

According to Immaculate Emily Alaso, the Bukedi North region Police spokesperson, preliminary information shows that the unknown thieves intercepted the Boda boda rider and after hit him with an iron bar killing him instantly. Meanwhile, the passenger sustained serious injuries.

 

Alaso says the deceased has not yet been identified but the passenger who was injured is Simon Wekesa, aged 20 years and a Kenyan by nationality.

 

She adds that it was a taxi driver, Abubakar Galabuzi going to Kampala from Mbale who saw the two bodies lying on the road at 5:00AM and then reported the matter to Naboa Police Post.

 

Alaso says that after Galabuza alerted police, they responded and discovered only a broken helmet at the scene and carried the body with the injured person to Mbale regional referral hospital.

 

Police also says that both the deceased is at the Mortuary pending postmortem and identification meanwhile the passenger is receiving treatment.

By press time, no arrests had been made.
