Keddi Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has come to the rescue of a six year old boy whose parents burnt using kerosene in Butebo district around June, 2023.

In June this year, a father and co-wife whose names have been withheld burnt their six-year-old son with fire after tying his hands and whole body with dry banana leaves, and then poured kerosene on his body before setting him on fire.

His biological father and stepmother accused him of stealing sauce in from the saucepan which prompted them to burn him as an appropriate punishment.

It was the area residents who saved him by putting off the fire and rushing him to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment after getting serious burns on his hands and back.

Later, Ebenezer Child Ministry Foundation a government organization based in Kibuku took responsibility for clearing medical bills and taking care of him since his biological mother was poor.

According to Sylvia Demba, one of the executive leaders of Ebenezer Child Ministry, after the child recovered from the foundation they decided to rehabilitate him at their center waiting to get 2 million shillings and take him for an operation at Mulago as advised by doctors at Mbale referral hospital.

It is in response to this call that Keddi Foundation on Sunday, 3rd September donated Shs2M and other items like sugar, clothes, and soap among others at Ebenezer Child Ministry Foundation offices located at Kibuku town council in Kibuku district.

While handing over the donation, Stephen Nakeddi, the executive director Keddi Foundation urged police to search the for biological father, and stepmother to be arrested and face the law.

He argued that these two abused the rights of the child and attempted to kill him which is criminal according to the law.

Nakeddi pledged that their organization will clear all bills before surgery and after and will educate the boy up to university.

Meanwhile, Emily Alaso Immaculate, the Bukedi North police spokesperson says that up to now the two parents are still on the run saying that police is still hunting them.
