The anti-riot police has just dispersed top members of FDC who wanted to attend a national delegates conference organized by party chairman, Wasswa Birigwa today, September 19, 2023.
Images coming from Katonga road show the delegates who had turned up scampering for dear lives after the police unleashed teargas on them.
The conference was planned to be in Busabala but it was shifted to Katonga Road offices as police blocked access to the initial venue.
Roads leading to Katonga have also been blocked by police amidst a standoff.
Earlier in the day, police had cordoned off Busabala and Kizza Besigye’s Katonga offices ahead of Waswa Birigwa’s intended delegates’ conference.
On Monday, 18th September, 2023, the high Court had ruled against the holding of party delegates’ conference called by Birigwa.
FDC delegates including the party chairperson of Busia, who had earlier arrived at Busabala for the delegates’ conference, say they were attacked by a gang that appeared in vehicles commonly known as drones.
They accuse the Party Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi of deploying the said hooligans.
