TORORO
At least 1,885 (22 percent) out of 8535 primary seven candidates who sat mock examinations last term in Tororo district have failed.
The examination results released on Wednesday, 4th October, 2023 from Rock View primary school show that majority of the candidates who failed the mocks are girls, who scored division U.
The results released saw 704 candidates pass in division one, 1922 in division two, 1679 in division three and 1939 in division four and according to the Tororo district inspector of schools, Denis Francis Tabu, this year’s performance reflects improvement from the previous year’s mocks.
The inspector attributed the failures to good numbers of candidates not attending classes regularly and lack of concentration on those who go to school.
Tabu however says that they are optimistic that the candidates will perform much better in the coming Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) based on the just released mock results adding that this can come true when all stakeholders play their roles.
Victory border point was the best school in the district with 61 in division 1 and remaining 4 in division two followed by Crane view junior school with 40 in division I, 4 in division 2, Nagonegra girls was the best government aided school with 78 in division 1, 13 in division 2 and 1 in division 3, Mama Junior Malaba and Canaan parents were the fourth and fifth respectively.
Meanwhile the worst performing schools are pagoya primary school that failed 21 out of 31, Korobudi primary school failed 17 out of 31, Pakoi primary school failed 16 out of 26, Mwenge primary school failed 16 out of 24 and Orago primary failed 21 out of 29 candidates.
399 candidates did not seat for the examination and the Tororo district secretary of education Noah Okumu tasked the education department to ensure that they follow these candidates so that the district does not register any absenteeism in the national examinations.
Upon receiving the results of Kisoko boys that got 8 in division, 28 in division and 5 failures, Dr. Odoi Tanga said that academic fire starts in the school today and he immediately bought printers to run revision papers to help the two schools of Nagongera girls and boys to convert the failures in mocks to passes
