A 19 year old woman has been arrested with the one month old baby girl she stole from her mother on Monday, 16th October 2023 at Kiganda Health Centre IV.
According to Rachael Kawala, the PRO Wamala Region, Nankabirwa Esseza, a resident of Kalamba Town Council, Kassanda district, was apprehended on Wednesday 18th October 2023 at around 7:00pm at Waybridge, Mubende Municipality, Mubende District, based on intelligence-led information.
Nankabirwa on Monday stole the little girl from her mother, Peace Kyarimpa after at the Health Center where the mother had taken the baby for immunization.
It was earlier reported that Nankabirwa took the innocence of the mother who entrusted her with the baby as she went to buy food.
The mother came back from buying food only to find both her baby and Nankabirwa missing and promptly reported the matter to police.
According to Kawala, preliminary findings suggest that Nankabirwa’s motive was linked to a deception involving her boyfriend and a false pregnancy claim.
The suspect is currently held at Kassanda CPS as inquiries continue,” Kawala says.
She also revealed that the child has already been reunited with her mother, following a thorough medical examination.
