Over Five hundred Certificate of Customary Ownership (CCOs) have been handed over to residents of Bungokho Sub County in Bungokho Central County, Mbale district.
Chris Mafabi Omir, the Bungokho Sub County Chairman LC 3 said the certificates of customary Ownership were freely processed by the International Institute of Rural Construction (IIRR) through the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
While handing over the five hundred certificates at Bungokho Sub County offices in Mbale district last week, Mafabi appealed to the beneficiaries to guard their land titles jealously and keep them safe.
Mafabi told the beneficiaries that they should never give out these land titles to money lenders for mortgage to get peanuts but aim at getting loans from trustworthy financial institutions for economic development and transformation.
He appreciated officials from IIRR for coming to the Sub County to deliver the land titles to the beneficiaries and requested for more support and other organizations to come and work in Bungokho Sub-county.
The project officer of IIRR, Mr. Christmas Munialo appreciated the good working relationship of the Bungokho Sub County leadership and the community for welcoming the project.
