Bugisu Members of Parliament who subscribe to the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus have contributed Shs2.5 million for the burial of their colleague, Hon. Miriam Mukhaye’s father on Saturday 11/11/2023 in Bumbobi sub county Mbale district.

Hon Richard Wanda, the chairman Bugisu Parliamentary caucus and a Member of Parliament for Bungokho Central County in Mbale district said the caucus contributed Shs2.5 million but he had only Shs1.5M cash.

Wanda said the Shs1M was used for transport among other things from the 25 members of parliament in the region.

One of the elders from Nabumali Town Council who asked for anonymity said  the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anitah Among contributed 10M shillings more than the 25 MPs from Bugisu.

“This is shameful, how can we have legislators who can’t help their fellow MP at the time she needs them most?” Wondered the elder.

He also told this reporter that some legislators did not attend the burial because of political differences they have in parliament and in their caucus.

Some members of the caucus when contacted said they were not aware of the death of their colleagues’ father while others said they were out of the country but promised to find out from the chairman of the caucus.

“We are going to find out and we also make our condolences to our colleague, we are one and work together through our caucus,” said one of the legislators.
