Shock has engulfed residents of Bukokho village, Bukokho parish, Bukokho sub county in Namisindwa district after unknown gunmen raided a home of one businesswoman and took her Shs24 million.

The businesswoman has been identified as Jessica Buyobe, a coffee dealer at Bumbo Trading Center.

According to John Wafula, the LCIII chairperson of Bukokho Sub County, the thugs armed with guns used hard metal to break into Buyobe’s house on Tuesday night, 19th December, 2023 at about Midnight.

He adds that after breaking into the house, they fired three bullets into the air to scare and threaten Buyobe until she handed over to them Shs24 million, then they went away without harming her.

Julie Namara, the Namisindwa Deputy Resident District Commissioner has confirmed the incident saying they have sent police to the scene to investigate the matter.

She warned business people against keeping big volumes of money in their houses but rather keep it the bank or on phone.

Namara also says that they have deployed security at all corners in the district to monitor and protect people such that they enter into festival season peacefully.
