SIRONKO MURDER: Relatives of Wife Cut into Pieces Unleash Mayhem on Suspect’s Relatives

Thursday, 4th January, 2024, residents of Foda village, Bukirya parish, Nalusala Sub County in Sironko district witnessed untold mayhem when relatives of slain Loyi Mugide descended on them in a retaliatory attack.

 

The attack saw the burning of the Foda Village LCI’s house, those of the suspected killer, Jackson Wadenga, close relatives and destruction of crops.

 

BACKGROUND

 

On 24th last month, Jackson Wadenga aged 24 years and resident of Foda village, Bukirya parish, Nalusala sub County in Sironko district hit his wife known as Loyi Mugide on the head using a hammer, killing her instantly over allegation of extra-marital sex.

 

After killing his wife, he went ahead and cut the body into two parts and put those parts in a sack and dumped them in a nearby stream known as Nangwe.

 

The body parts were discovered by young boys on Tuesday, 2nd January, 2024 while grazing animals who alerted community members.

 

Yesterday, hundreds of Mugide’s relatives after getting the news about the murder of their daughter, armed themselves with pangas, stones, sticks, knives and invaded the home of Wadenga the suspect, area LCI chairperson known as Anthony Wodega and his other relatives.

 

They cut all their crops like coffee, bananas, maize among others and set fire on all their houses in retaliation.

 

Herbert Musika, the area sub county Councilor to the District says that it’s total sadness and tears in the area.

 

He says that properties which were destroyed are worth hundreds of millions of shilling adding that they have got information that the relatives of the deceased are planning to come back and also kill some community members. He has appealed to security to respond to the matter urgently.

 

Ephraim Denis Balwaniregha, the Sironko Resident District Commissioner has condemned the incident saying that police are hunting for the suspect so that he can be arrested and face justice.

 

He however, warned people against holding laws in their hands saying the law will catch up with each person as an individual who is involved in destroying properties.
