President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni also National Chairman National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party has revealed that the Party registered 18.3Million members in the recently concluded registration exercise.
This is a notable increase from the11.4 million voters the Party had in its register before the latest exercise.
President Museveni revealed this in a message on X saying this figure was given by the party’s secretariat at the Thursday 11th April, 2024 CEC meeting that took place at State House Entebbe.
Museveni says this figure was realized despite existence of some gaps such as, “the criminality of money lenders who take away national Identity Cards from Ugandans and the limited involvement of NRM village chairpersons.”
The President says CEC resolved to address those gaps through legislation if necessary and return to the people at an appropriate time.
NRM undertook the registration exercise of its Party members on 13th of March and closed it on 17th March ahead of 2026 General elections.
