A Bio Medical Engineer at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital in Kampala City has been arrested and arraigned before Makindye Chief Magistates Court on charges of Possessing Suspected Stolen Property and Unlawful possession of government stores.
Tumukugize Darlington who was arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit was produced before court on Friday 26th April, 2024 and remanded until 15th May, 2024.
State House Anti-Corruption Unit says that Tumukugize, being a biomedical engineer at Kiruddu Hospital, and incharge of verifying some of the medical supplies, supplied at the hospital, has allegedly been pressuring suppliers to buy medical equipment from his agents, including his wife’s company, Kamedi Tech Health Care & Hospital Supplies.
“It is also alleged that after receiving the supplies, he returns some back on the market for his private gain,” says the SHAU statement.
Tumukugize was found in possession of twenty pieces of wall oxygen single flow meters and four hospital mattresses with labels of Kiruddu National Referral Hospital.
