KAMPALA: Panga Wielding Man Critically Injures 4 Children after Mom Resists Ransom Demands

A panga wielding man has critically injured four children in Bongole Zone, Katwe, Kampala city after their mother resisted his forceful demand of Shs5M Cash.

 

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the incident happened on Monday, 29th April, 2024 at approximately 10:30 am.

 

Owoyesigyire says that the an unidentified assailant, armed with a panga, forcibly entered the residence of Ms. Ayebare Anita, 25 years old, a resident of Bongole Zone, Ndejje along Entebbe road, while she was having breakfast with her children.

 

The assailant, threatening violence, demanded a sum of five million in cash from Ms. Ayebare Anita. When she resisted, the perpetrator turned his aggression towards her four children: Atuhaire Lucia (2 yrs), Ampaire Maria Zoe (5 yrs), Musiime Blair (7 yrs), & Ankunda Godius (14yrs).

 

“Thanks to the swift response of both local residents and the police stationed at Mirimu, the assailant was killed,” says Owoyesigyire.

 

It was later realized that he had inflicted injuries on the children and they immediately rushed to Nalujja Medical Center, Batata Entebbe road, for urgent medical attention.

 

“However, their condition remains critical,” says the police PRO.

 

 

The body of the suspect was conveyed to the city mortuary Mulago for postmortem, as investigations continue with the aim of ascertaining his identity and motive.
