UPDATE: Kenyan President Promotes, Appoints Nine Generals

President William Ruto has promoted Lt Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank of General, and appointed him the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) among eight other promotions and appointments.

 

“H.E Hon Dr William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, pursuant to section 9 (2) (a) of the KDF Act, has promoted Lt Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank of General & appointed him The CDF,” reads a ministry of defence press statement issued today, 2nd May, 2024.

 

The President also promoted Major General John Mugaravai Omenda to the rank of Lt. Gen. and appointed Vice CDF. He was formerly commander Kenya Air force.

 

Further, the President has posted Maj. General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed to Kenya Air force as commander while Maj. Gen. Paul Owuor Otieno has been posted to the Kenya Navy and appointed its commander.

 

On the advice of the Defence Council chaired by Hon. Aden Bare Duale, the President has also posted Major General Thomas Njoroge Ng’angai to the National Defence University and appointed him Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance

 

Promoted Brigadier Peter Nyamu Githinji to Major General and appointed him Senior Directing Staff Air at National Defence College.

 

Promoted Brigadier Jattani Kampare Gula to Major General and appointed him Managing Director Kenya Meat Commission and promoted Brigadier George Okumu to Major General and appointed him Managing Director Kenya Ordinance Factories Corporation and Food Processing Factory.

 

Ruto has also appointed Brigadier Samuel Kosgei Kipkorir deputy Commander Kenya Air force.
