PALLISA

Four leaders of the Enjiri Sect in Pallisa district have been arrested for stopping their members from being counted during the ongoing National Population Census.

The four were arrested on Friday, 10th May, 2024 on the orders of the RDC Pallisa, Dhikusoka Magidu following the alert from village enumerators who were conducting the exercise yesterday.

Among those arrested are Peter Wakiko and Sarah Nabugabo.

The RDC said government has injected a lot of resources into this exercise for the benefit of all the people, and it was wrong for some people to resist being part of the exercise.

Priscilla Akello, the Pallisa District Communications Officer, says the issue of counting Ugandans must be taken seriously.

She requested people to cooperate with the enumerators and not give exaggerated information.
