In a bold move to combat uniform forgery, Nkoma Secondary School has launched an operation to apprehend individuals involved in duplicating the school badge.
Two individuals were arrested yesterday on Thursday, 25th July, 2024 after the school’s uniform officer discovered students wearing fake badges.
The suspects are identified as, Yusuf Ahmed, a tailor at Mbale Central Market, and James Ecimono from Kanikwa B Cell in Namanyonyi, who face charges of forging the school will badge.
Asidu Wamono, the deputy head teacher in charge of uniform and discipline, confirmed the arrests and emphasized the school’s commitment to maintaining authenticity and control.
He says they are working tirelessly to identify and arrest those involved in forging their school uniform, badge, and identity cards.
Wamono added that the forgery has led to non-students purchasing uniforms in the market, misrepresenting the school, and tarnishing its reputation.
To combat this, the school has agreed with parents to purchase uniforms exclusively from the school.
The Deputy RCC Mbale City, in charge of the Industrial City Division, Mr. Banja Hamza, confirmed the arrests and noted that the investigation is ongoing.
He advises schools to provide uniforms with school badges, not allowing anyone to access them on the market.
This will prevent individuals from using forged badges, uniforms, and identity cards to pose as students.
The operation aims to eliminate forgery and ensure student safety as the school and security agencies are working together to sensitize the public about the dangers of uniform forgery.
The suspects are in custody at Mbale central police station pending investigation.
