Uganda National examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released 2024 national examinations time table.
Releasing the time tables today, Monday, 30th September, 2024, UNEB says this will be the first time the body conducts four examinations at the same time. The 4ES are PLE, UCE (new curriculum), UCE transitional curriculum and UACE.
“Unlike previously when we had three sets of examinations, UNEB will this time round conduct Four Examinations (4Es), the UCE Examination based on the NLSC and the UCE (transitional examination), based on the old curriculum,” says Dan Odongo, the Executive Director.
The Transitional exams are meant to cater for students who needed to repeat or those missed the 2023 UCE exams for whatever reasons
The 4ES start on 11th October for UCE with UCE – New Curriculum ending on 8th November and UCE Transitional on 15th November, 2024.
This is then followed by PLE that starts on 4th November (Briefing) and ending on 7th November and finally UACE kicking off on 8th November and ending on 6th December 2024.
Odongo says that in terms of funding, 698,808 (53%) of the total candidates are funded by the government under the Universal Education Programs, while 621,592 (47%) are privately sponsored.
“We have recorded a very significant increase in candidature at UACE Level this year, with 142,017 candidates, compared to last year’s candidature of 110,579. This reflects an increase of 28.4%,” reveals Odongo.
