JUST IN: Two Town Agents Remanded Over PDM Cash in Kabarole District

Two Town Agents and two SACCO leaders in Kabarole district have been arraigned in court and remanded on allegations of extorting money from Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries.

 

The accused are Town Agents;  Kobusingye Esther-Town Agent Kibasi ward, Kibasi Town Council and Godfrey Busingye-Town Agent Kinyererezi ward, Kijura Town Council.

 

The two SACCO leaders are Amanyire Fred-Chairperson Kibedde Ward PDM SACCO and Mugabe Robert-Vice Chairperson Kibedde ward PDM SACCO all from Kabarole district.

 

The four were charged at Chief Magistrates Court in Fortportal on charges relating to extortion of money from several members of various SACCOs and enterprise groups on Monday, 7th October, 2024.

 

According to the State House Anti-corruption Unit that carried out the investigations, the accused, between the months of November 2023 and September 2024 fraudulently obtained money from several PDM beneficiaries from the villages of Harubaho and Kyamuhoro in Kibasi Town Council and Nyansozi village in Mugusu Town Council claiming it was a prerequisite for processing their funds where as not.

 

They have been remanded until 14th October, 2024 when they will reappear before the same court for mention of their case and bail application.
