SIRONKO: Boda Boda Riders Set Ablaze Five Houses of Suspected Motorcycle Thieves

There was mayhem in Sironko district on Saturday, 4th January, 2025 when a mob of boda boda riders descended on five homes of their fellow boda boda riders whom they accuse of being motorcycle thieves setting ablaze their homes in the process.

 

The houses belong to Bernard Gizamba from Tagalu village, Buchinyeli Sub County, Michael Nagazi Kisidoyi from Buchinyeli village in Masaba sub county, Alex Massa popularly known as Sanchez from Gombe Gaswasa town council, Silver Wabudeya Lutuya from Masaba Sub County and Samuel Gudoyi from Bugitimwa Sub County.

 

According to some of the Boda Boda riders who preferred anonymity, the five have been conniving with other thugs from Mbale City to rob their motorcycles after hitting them with iron bars.

 

However, Laban Wanyala, the former LCIII Chairperson of Masaba Sub County says that the allegations against the 5 are false because when no evidence was found in the five houses before they were set ablaze.

 

He urged police to carry out thorough investigations such that people who were behind these ugly act can be arrested and be prosecuted.

 

Frank Muzoora, the police commander of Sironko has confirmed the incident saying police is investigating.

 

He says that the fire destroyed items in the five houses like household property, and birds among others.

 

By press time, the victims were on the run for fear of being lynched by angry Boda Boda riders.
