The Sironko District Local Government has received Shs 3 billion to construct new offices and new headquarters.

Livingston Giluli, the LCV Chairperson, made the announcement on Tuesday, 22nd April, 2025 during a consultative meeting at Nakilungu Secondary School in Busulani Sub County.

Giluli revealed that the Ministry of Finance has already released Shs 400 million to commence construction.

He says the work has begun near the old district headquarters.

Nelson Kiranda, the Chief Administrative Officer, explained that the government will disburse the funds in installments until the project is completed.

He says the new building will be a storied structure that will house all district offices, replacing the old and dilapidated buildings. Kiranda expects the construction to take one year to be completed.

Isaiah Sasaga Wanzira, the area MP representing Budadiri East constituency credited himself and his colleague, Nathan Nandala Mafabi for Budadiri West for lobbying for the funds.

He noted that since Sironko District was carved out of Mbale District in 2000, it has been operating in old buildings that have given the district a bad image.

Lydia Gimono, the former LCV Vice Chairperson, welcomed the development and urged her fellow councilors and leaders to support the project.
