BULAMBULI

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party in Bulambuli district has fractured into two rival factions potentially impacting the party’s dynamics and primary elections.

This was revealed on Sunday, 8th June, 2025 at Muyembe town council during the endorsement of nomination forms belonging to Irene Muloni for Bulambuli district Member of Parliament.

During the function, Paulo Kimamati, the district NRM chairperson said that whereas they have officially formed a joint Campaign team for NRM comprising key leaders, other candidates have chosen to distance themselves from the team, potentially to create division within the party.

The official team comprises of Irene Muloni, the district Woman Member of Parliament, Paulo Kimamati, the district NRM chairperson, Simon Peter Wanazofu, the former district LCV chairperson; and Gerald Nangoli, the Member of Parliament representing Elgon North constituency.

Meanwhile, the rival faction has Annette Nandudu, the Bulambuli district LCV chairperson, who is vying for the Woman Member of Parliament position, Sarah Wekomba, the former Woman Member of Parliament and Nyasio Mudimi, the Elgon County Member of Parliament.

Paulo Kimamati, said the official team aims to work together in solidarity during voting and vote guarding in the upcoming NRM primary elections.

Irene Muloni stated that the joint effort will help strengthen the party and garner more support for the President.

Attempts to get a comment from Annette Nandudu were unsuccessful, as her known phone numbers were unreachable. The formation of these rival groups may potentially impact the party’s dynamics and primary elections.
