MBALE CITY

Mbale City staff are now in trouble after receiving multiple salary payments in their accounts during the June, 2025 payments.

Due to what authorities call a systems error in the IMFS, 1,028 staff members received multiple salaries for June, ranging from two to four months’ pay.

However, in a letter dated 15th July, 2025, the Deputy City Clerk, Jolly Hasoho, accuses the staff of not reporting the anomaly and now wants them to show cause why salary deduction codes shouldn’t be placed on their salaries effective July, 2025.

According to Jolly Hasoho, the Deputy City Clerk while speaking to our reporter today Wednesday at her office, the affected staff members are required to submit their payslips, bank statements, and national IDs to the Human Resource office by the end of the month to rectify the situation.

She confirmed that the Human Resource office has been directed to effect deduction codes for recovery of the extra money paid out.

Some workers are reportedly unhappy with the decision, arguing that they shouldn’t be held accountable for the error.

The city authorities have warned that those who don’t comply with the notice may face salary delays. This incident highlights the challenges faced by Mbale City in managing its payroll system.
