SIRONKO
As the 2026 general election approaches, the Budadiri West constituency in Sironko has attracted 21 candidates, a number considered historic in the politics of Sironko, the Bugisu region, and Uganda.
Most of the candidates are running as independents after disagreeing with the recent FDC party primaries, which gave Reverend Jackson Magombe the victory and the FDC flag to run, replacing Nathan Nandala Mafabi, who has been nominated as the FDC flag bearer for the presidential seat.
The candidates include Waigonda Meri Enos (PFF), Makwasi Sharif (PFF), Masanga Isaac Kidasa (NRM), Mudathir Jaffar (NUP), Magombe Jackson (Rev.) (FDC), Mudebo Polycap (DP), Mangali Charles N (Independent), Wanyoto Godfrey (Independent), Kabala Richard (Independent), Bulafu Douglas (Independent), Wanyenze Tabitha (Independent), Mashate Francis Wanduyi (Independent), Bossa Nasser (Independent).
Others are Mashate Peter Magomu (Independent), Mugembe Amos (Independent), Wanyonyi Michael Simiyu (Independent), Kisolo Jackson (Independent), Mafabi Alex (Independent), Keya Issa (Independent), Nakisali Christopher (Independent), and Wakou Mabberi (Independent).
Some of the candidates who spoke to our reporter, indicated confidence in taking the seat.
