Police at Kajjansi Police Station have apprehended a Whiteman suspected to be a suicide bomber plus a boda rider for allegedly planting a fake bomb at ABSA Bank and Guild Forex Bureau both at Quality Supermarket Lubowa, along Entebbe road and demanded more than Shs. 600 million for ransom thereafter.
A reliable source told us that the poor whiteman was arrested on Tuesday evening August 19,2025, after he handed over two envelopes to Madi Muteta-a Boda rider to deliver them to the said financial institutions.
It’s said that when the ABSA and Forex Bureau staff opened the envelopes, they found the letters informing them that a piped bomb had been erected at their entrances and the author in this letter demanded for different amounts in ransom in order to detonate it before it explodes.
A source at Kajjansi police station told us that on August 19, 2025, at around 4 pm, police received information about two anonymous letters delivered to Absa Bank and Guild Forex Bureau.
Police bomb squad swiftly responded by cordoning off the scene. The written letters claimed a pipe bomb was planted at the entrance and demanded a ransom of $120,000 (UGX 427 million), 20,000 Euros, (UGX 83 million), 20,000 Pounds (UGX 96 million), and Shs. 30 million.
The Kampala metropolitan police spokesman, Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest revealing that police have stepped up investigations into the matter. He, however noted that the white man had not yet provided his particulars.
The yet to be identified whiteman was tracked down with the help of the CCTV cameras mounted along Entebbe road which enabled Kajjansi Police detectives to identify the vehicle he used to give Muteta the envelopes he delivered to the banking institutions about the bomb threats.
However, Kajjansi police later discovered the bombs were fake after inspection by the bomb squad.
According to Muteta’s statement recorded at Kajjansi police station, the whiteman paid him Shs. 20,000 to deliver the letters to security guards. Muteta said he was very excited to be paid Shs.20,000 for such a very short distance but never knew it was going to land him in problems.
