With only seven days to the Parliamentary campaigns, the Democratic Party candidate in Usuk has withdrawn from the Usuk county parliamentary race in favor of NRM flag bearer, Richard Ongorok.
On Wednesday, October 22nd and Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, the National Electoral Commission nominated five candidates for the Usuk County constituency, including Simon Peter Ogulo, a secondary teacher by profession, for the 2026 general election in February 2026.
Simon Peter Ogulo, the Democratic Party candidate, confirmed his stepping down over the weekend saying, the State Minister for Education and Sports, as well as the Member of Parliament for Ngariam County, approached him to join the National Resistance Movement, but also to step down so that Richard Ongorok, the NRM party flag bearer, could run alongside the other candidates.
Following Ogulo’s resignation from the contest, four candidates will compete for Usuk County: Richard Ongorok of the NRM, Bosco Okiror, an incumbent independent, Charles Okideny, an independent, and Epel Alex of the Forum for Democratic Change.
