Tororo Police Crackdown: 39 Suspects Arrested in Crime-Busting Operation

The Territorial Police in Tororo have apprehended 39 suspects in a targeted operation aimed at curbing the rising crime rate in the area.

 

The suspects, aged between 15 and 30, were arrested on Sunday night, 2nd November, 2025 for allegedly engaging in criminal activities such as break-ins, theft, and robbery.

 

According to Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South region police spokesperson, the suspects operate in various areas of Tororo, including Nyangole, Kwapa, and Jinja Road, Bison, Water Village, Area 40, Mbale Road, Morukatipe Road, and others

 

They reportedly use bars and lodges as their hideouts to plan and execute their crimes.

 

The police operation was intelligence-led and focused on dismantling criminal networks in the area by apprehending suspects who terrorize the community by breaking into their houses/shops and stores, stealing people’s property, waylaying people especially during night fundraising and night parties.

 

The suspects are currently being interrogated and profiled to determine their involvement in various crimes.

 

The police have charged the suspects with attempting to commit a felony and possession of drugs. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.

 

The operation demonstrates the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.

 

The community is urged to work with the police to prevent and detect crime.
