Uganda Prisons Officer Faces Disciplinary Action over Tiktok Videos

Uganda Prisons Services Warder, No. 17974, Ampe Lawrence of U.G. Prisons Ngora is to face disciplinary action for going live on Tiktok complaining of unfair working conditions.

 

In a statement issued today, Friday, 7th November by the Prisons Services Spokesperson, SCP, Frank Baine, Ampe has made several Tiktok videos on various subjects which demonstrates gross indiscipline.

In one of the Videos, Ampe is heard complaining that he has not been deployed and yet he is paid salary, calling it corruption and alleging that his ‘katebe’ could be because there are intentions of violating inmates human rights.

 

Baine now says Ampe, has gone against the Code and Ethics of the Uganda Prisons Service concerning communication to the press which states, “a public officer shall not communicate with the media on issues related to work or official policy without due permission from the authorizing officer.”

 

Subsequently, Baine says, Ampe will face the due disciplinary process and warns, “A strong warning goes to all those who intend to misuse their phones and or computer to be ready to face disciplinary action.”
