BULAMBULI
Bulambuli district local government, through its health department, plans to launch a mass measles vaccination drive to curb the outbreak.
The epidemic has hit Bulambuli and Sironko districts, with six people currently hospitalized.
According to Martine Naimu, the acting Bulambuli district health officer, the vaccination exercise will run from Sunday this week to Thursday next week, 5th February, 2026.
He says they will target children aged 9 months to 5 years across the district adding that they will set up vaccination points in different sub-counties where health workers will administer the vaccines.
The Resident District Commissioner of Bulambuli, George Magunda, has urged the public to participate in the vaccination exercise to help curb the spread of measles.
He warned any individuals or religious groups found discouraging people from participating, saying the authorities will take action against them.
“The long arm of the law will catch up with them,” Mr Magunda said.
