Police has recovered a motorcycle that was robbed from Arua District in a Kampala City garage undergoing modifications.
According to a statement issued by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the motorcycle and other exhibits were recovered in an intelligence led operation conducted on Monday, 2nd March, 2026 in Kigwanya Cell, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.
He says Police had received actionable intelligence linking a suspect to the robbery of a motorcycle from Arua District.
The prime suspect, identified as Kabogoza Kefa alias Kivumbi, a 22-year-old mechanic and resident of Kigwanya Cell, is alleged to have robbed a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, Registration Number UFU 119N, on 27th February 2026 at about 1:00PM from an unidentified victim believed to be a resident of Saziro Village, Arua District. The suspect reportedly transported the motorcycle to Nsangi.
Further information indicated that on 01st March 2026 at about 1900 hours, the suspect delivered the stolen motorcycle to a garage known as “Younger’s Garage” located in Buwali Village near Emma Oil Petrol Station in Nsangi, with the intention of altering the engine and registration details to conceal its identity.
He says a team of officers from Nabbingo Police Station, proceeded to the garage and recovered the following exhibits:
Motorcycle Registration Number UFU 119N (Bajaj Boxer, red) , Motorcycle Registration Number UMA 399DF (Spiro, blue) , Registration number plate UEU 629L , One motorcycle exhaust pipe , One motorcycle seat cushion.
“The recovery of additional motorcycle parts and another motorcycle points to an organised racket involved in dismantling and altering stolen motorcycles for resale,” says Luke.
He identified the arrested suspects as Kabogoza Kefa alias Kivumbi – Prime suspect, Bbagala Shafik alias Younger – Proprietor of the garage, Aryatuha Samson – Parking attendant where the exhibits were kept.
Police have recorded statements from relevant witnesses and suspects, taken still photographs of the exhibits and scene, and secured the recovered items pending forensic examination.
Partial interviews with the suspects have been conducted, and investigations are ongoing to identify additional accomplices, trace rightful owners of recovered motorcycles, and ensure appropriate charges are preferred in courts of law.
