The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arraigned before court five men on allegations of selling government Forest Reserve.

The 5 were members of the land allocation committee who were charged with conspiracy to defraud, assault causing grievous harm, malicious damage to property and Unlawful confinement.

They are identified as; Kasibante Robert, Kawa Robert, Musisi Julius, Gawera Ronald and Semata Vicent meanwhile others still at large.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit says the suspects being members of the Land Allocation Committee allegedly embarked on the process of subdividing and distributing land within Kyarubanga forest reserve prior to its degazettement, in contravention of H.E. the President’s directive regarding the degazettement of the said forest reserve.

The accused persons are alleged to have forcefully taken possession of land occupied by sitting tenants and allocated it to themselves and other individuals, including non-residents of Nakasongola District. These actions gave rise to serious disputes, assaults, and incidents of malicious damage to property.

Additionally, it is alleged that some members of the committee obtained money from members of the public under the pretext of allocating them land; however, in several instances, the promised land was never allocated.

SH-ACU’s intervention followed a directive by H.E to investigate allegations of corruption and irregularities by the Land Allocation Committee. Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

The accused were remanded until 14th April 2026.
