A Gatekeeper in one of the suburbs of Kampala City has killed one child and injured another while closing a gate.
According to SP Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, a one Eegu James working at the home of Peter Wampalu committed the act on Thursday, 14th May, 2026 at about 6:00 PM in Najeera, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
Police at Kira Road have registered a case of rush and neglect act causing death following an incident that occurred on 14/05/2026 at about 6:00 PM in Najeera, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
The victims, both children of Peter Wampalu, were aged 4 and 7 years respectively.
As a result, one child, identified as Amir Abrahim Adam, aged 7 years, sustained fatal injuries, while the other child sustained severe injuries after being hit by the gate.
Both victims were rushed to Mulago Hospital for medical attention, where Amir Abrahim Adam was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The gatekeeper (askari) is currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
