Masaka High Court Convicts Four over 2017 Panga, ‘Bijambiya’ Murders

Masaka High Court has convicted four persons over the 2017 Panga a.k.a Bijambya murders.

 

The four identified as Nakabale Innocent, Terutesa Joseph alias Lafair, Lubega Geofrey alias Mr. O, and Galiwango Musa alias Kawesi Dauda were found guilty for the spate of murders and aggravated robbery that occurred in Masaka in 2017 on Thursday, 21st May, 2026.

 

The High Court of Uganda at Masaka presided over by  His Lordship Charles Kasibayo convicted the four accused persons on two murder counts and one aggravated robbery count and sentenced them to 35 years’ imprisonment on each count to run concurrently.

 

The evidence presented by the prosecution in court established that on the night of 4th September, 2017 at Kabonera Trading Centre, the assailants attacked Geoffrey Kulabako at his music and video library where he also operated a gaming machine business (slot machine), stealing UGX 700,000. Armed with pangas, the attackers broke into the premises, damaged property, and assaulted him.

 

During the incident, Geoffrey Kulabako managed to escape and raise an alarm. Mujjumba Godfrey, who responded to the distress call, was killed at the scene, while, Kulabako Ibrahim was assaulted and left in a critical state. He later died upon admission at Masaka Regional Refrral Hospital.

 

Nakabale Innocent, Terutesa Joseph alias Lafair, Lubega Geofrey alias Mr. O, and Galiwango Musa alias Kawesi Dauda who were identified during the attack were arrested by the police and charged in court.

 

Mr. Brian Kalinaki, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions/Regional Officer Masaka, prosecuted the case.
