JUST IN: URA Speaks Out On Death of Staff in Elephant Crash at Karuma

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has released a statement regarding the Sunday night, 24th May, 2026 accident involving an elephant and a van carrying its staff members.

A statement released today, Monday, May 25, 2026 confirms the accident but says only two of its staff members have so far been confirmed dead.

 

The deceased have been identified as Robert Lumanyika Wamala and Moses Adola.

 

Earlier police had released a statement saying three URA Staff members perished in the accident that occurred along the Arua road in Murchison Falls National Park, Nwoya District.

 

URA reveals further that four of its staff got injuries and are currently receiving treatment under close monitoring.
