Michael Mamayi, 21, of Busambatsa I Parish, Buwabwala Sub-county, in Namisindwa district is appealing for public support to raise about Shs2 million for specialized treatment after he was attacked and set on fire in May this year.
Mamayi was returning home at 9 p.m. from a local drinking joint when unknown assailants poured petrol on him and set him ablaze for reasons still unknown.
He reported the incident at Buwabwala Police Post, but police have not made arrests since he was alone and unable to identify the attackers.
He was rushed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, but had to cut short treatment due to lack of funds for drugs and other medical needs, forcing doctors to discharge him home.
While Speaking on behalf of his son, Patrick Bwobi, the biological father, said they need over Shs2 million to access quality care at a specialist health facility.
“We are pleading with well-wishers to come forward and support us to save Michael’s life before it is too late,” Bwobi said.
The family hopes public goodwill will help Mamayi get the treatment he needs to recover.
