The Inspector General of Government, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala has directed that former Parliament’s Director of Communication, Chris Obore and six other senior officials be interdicted over allegations of corruption.
The IGG gave the order in a letter dated 31st July, 2026, addressed to the Clerk of Parliament, Adolf Mwesige.
Lady Justice Naluzze wants Mwesige to interdict the 7 officials with immediate effect pending the final determination of the criminal proceedings against them.
The other officials are; Adilo Daniel-Director Human Resource, Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu-Principal Research Officer, Okwi Emmanuel Emuron, Principal Protocol Officer.
Also on the interdiction list are; Otebata Vincent-Capacity Development Officer, Okema Leonard-Executive Secretary office of the Speaker and Itute Stella-Office Supervisor.
The officials who are currently in remand at Luzira (except Itute who is on the run) were on July 1st 2026 charged before the Anti-Corruption Court with Abuse of Office, Embezzlement, Money Laundering and Causing Financial Loss to government.
The IGG’s authority to interdict is derived from Article 230 of the Constitution of Uganda and Section 13(6) of the Inspectorate of Government Act Cap 32.
“The Inspector General of Government may during the course of her or his duties or as consequence of her findings make such orders and give such directions as are necessary and appropriate in the circumstances,” reads Cap 32 of the Inspectorate Act.
