NTC Kaliro Accountant Remanded Over Shs121M Loss to Government

KAMPALA

 

The Anti-Corruption Court on Monday 3rd August 2026 remanded Mr. Okiria Clement Epalat, an Accountant at National Teacher’s College (NTC), Kaliro, to Luzira Prison for Causing Financial Loss of UGX 121M to the Government of Uganda.

 

Court presided over by Grade One Magistrate, Esther Asiimwe remanded Mr. Okiria until 12th August, 2026, when he will return to Court for mention of his case and application for bail.

 

Mr. Okiria, who pleaded not guilty, is jointly charged with Ms. Lanyero Evelyn Grace, the Principal of the same College, by the Inspectorate of Government (IG) with abuse of office and causing financial loss of UGX121M to the Government of Uganda. Both officials are currently on interdiction.

 

However, Ms. Lanyero, who appeared before Court last year was remanded and later granted bail. Mr. Okiria has been at large since last year until 31st July, 2026, when he was arrested.

 

The Court has fixed the matter for pre-trial on 10th September, 2026.
