The Police in Bugiri on Monday 14th September 2026 arrested one Maganda Yusuf 41, resident of Nile Market, Nile Ward, Mayuge Town Council, for alleged theft of goats.
At around 05:00 am, information was received from a concerned citizen, that the suspect has been stealing goats from villages around Mayuge and transporting them using a taxi.
Police responded swiftly, arrested the suspect from his residence and recovered eight (8) goats suspected to be stolen.
ASP Kasadha Michael, the Busoga East Regional Police spokesperson said the suspect is currently detained at Mayuge Police Station on charges of Theft of Cattle contrary to Section 254 of the Penal Code Act as inquiries continue.
The exhibits have been secured as owners are being traced to identify their goats.
Police commended the public for the timely information and encouraged continued cooperation to fight livestock theft in the region.
