BUKEDEA
A total of three government aided schools in three sub counties of Kidongole, Kangole and Kabarwa in Bukedea district have received an aid of iron sheets.
The donation has come from the office of the Right Honorable Speaker, Anet Among Anita who doubles as Woman Member of Parliament for Bukedea District.
The beneficiary schools are; Kajamaka primary school in Kindole Sub County which got two hundred iron sheets, Kadacar primary school in Kangole which got one hundred and fifty iron sheets and Kalou primary school which also received one hundred and fifty iron sheets in Kabarwa Sub County.
The iron sheets delivery was channelled by the speaker’s team headed by her political assistant for Bukedea, Ms Siporah Akol.
According to Akol, a total of five hundred iron sheets were handed over to help to restore the dilapidated schools.
Stephen Okurut, The acting district education officer Bukedea yesterday Monday 20th, Feb 2023 said the three primary schools that have benefited from the aid of iron sheets were badly off. He said learners were forced to take some of the classes under the mango trees.
“We wrote a report to the ministry asking for support when wind destroyed these schools, but were not given a response, we also asked for support through the Speaker and in this I want to applaud her for this support,” said Mr. Okurut.
Michael Ocan, the Kangole sub county chairperson said parents, teachers and pupils have been struggling to collect money to rectify the blown building but over two years they had failed.
