A strange fire has gutted the International Police (Interpol) offices located at Lwakhakha Uganda-Kenya border in Lwakhakha town council in Namisindwa district.
The fire that has burnt important documents like files into ash occurred this afternoon of 3rd October 2023.
According to Bonny Wekesa, an eyewitness, it was locals who ran to the rescue of the offices with water in jerrycans and managed to put off fire when important documents had already got burnt.
He says that the police fire brigade vehicle from Mbale City arrived after three hours when the locals had already put off the raging fire.
Julie Namara, the Namisindwa deputy resident district commissioner confirmed the outbreak of the fire.
She added that they suspect the fire could have been started by electricity short circuit saying that more investigation are still going on to come up with the real cause of the fire.
